Board Action Details 08/08/2012: BOARD ORDER - Application for license to practice medicine and surgery denied. Based on prior action by the Maryland State Board of Physicians, which issued an Order for Summary Suspension of the doctor’s license based on conclusions that the doctor misdiagnosed autistic children with precocious puberty and other genetic abnormalities and treated the children with potent hormonal therapy, and in some children chelation therapy, which exposed the children to needless risk of harm; failed to conduct adequate physical examinations; failed to provide adequate informed consent to the parents of the children he treated; and treated the children with therapies not supported by evidence-based studies. Order effective 8/9/12. (Journal Entry – No hearing requested.)<br/> 07/13/2011: CITATION: Based on the prior action of Maryland’s licensing board in summarily suspending doctor’s license in that state after concluding that the public health, safety, and welfare imperatively required emergency action based on the determination that doctor’s treatment for autistic children included exposing children to needless risk of harm resulting from misdiagnoses, failing to conduct adequate physical examinations prior to starting treatment, and treating with therapies not supported by evidence-based studies.
