I am not receiving email notifications from eLicense Ohio, what should I do?

Please note that email notifications come from: No Reply – eLicense <eLicense-noreply@das.ohio.gov>.

Receiving an email notice may take up to ten minutes.  For instance, when you reset your password, it may take up to ten minutes to receive the password reset email and link.  Be sure to check your junk or spam folder.  If the email notice is still not in your inbox or spam folder, this means you either do not have an email address on file with the Board, or the email address does not match the Board’s records.  Please contact your licensure board.

How do I add a school to education information?

When applying for or renewing a license, you may have to submit education information.  To add an educational institution to your profile, click the ‘Add Education’ button. Begin typing the name of the school into the Education Institution field. As you type, the name of your school should auto-populate. Once it does, click on it to select it.

If your school does not auto-populate, type the word ‘Other’ into the Education Institution field, then select the list item ‘Other’. Repeat this process for all education entries. All fields marked with (*) are required. Once finished, continue with the next Background sections or click the ‘Save and Continue’ button.

How do I check the status of my application / license?

In your eLicense Ohio dashboard, go to your license tile.  Your license status will be listed as one of the following:
  • Submitted
  • Pending
  • Generate Fee
  • In Review
  • Active
  • Inactive
  • Closed
‘Pending’ indicates that a license application is still being completed by an applicant; log in to complete and submit your application.  If a fee is required from your board, the application status will read ‘Generate Fee’– you can pay the fee in your eLicense shopping cart.  Please contact your licensure board for further information about your status.

How do I check the status of a service request?

In your eLicense Ohio dashboard, go to ‘My History’.  In the dropdown menu, select ‘Service Request’ to see a history of your service requests, service request reference numbers, type of request, and submitted date.  There are only two statuses, ‘Submitted’ or ‘Complete.’  Please contact your licensure board for further information. When calling the board, have your service request number available.

I am having trouble making a payment or payments. What should I do?

Below are some of the most common issues we see:

Billing Addresses: For security purposes, our credit card processor verifies that the address you have entered on the payment page matches the address on your billing statement. Make sure that you are entering the correct address when you make your payment.

Card Security Code (CVV): The CVV is a small three-digit code located on the back of your card (for Visa and MasterCard) or a four digit code on the front of the card (American Express).

Getting the 16-digit Card Number right: When you enter your credit card number, only enter the number - don't enter any spaces, symbols or letters

Why am I no longer logged into the eLicense system?

After 30 minutes of user inactivity, the system will automatically log the user out of the eLicense system. The user will need to log back into the system to access their eLicense data.

The registration letter I received in the mail says I need to enter my social security number (SSN). What if I don’t have a SSN?

Check the ‘I don’t have a Social Security Number’ box on the registration page.  Then select the reason for not providing the SSN as ‘Foreign Applicant’.

Should I register as an ‘Existing Licensee’ or as a ‘New Applicant’?

If you currently hold or have ever held a license with one of the Ohio boards, OR if you had an application for one of them on file register as an ‘Existing Licensee’.  You should have received an email or letter in the mail from your licensure board with directions for how to register.  You can also click here for instructions on how to register.

If you have NEVER held a license with or submitted an application to one of the Ohio boards, register as a ‘New Applicant’.

If you can’t find your security code or did not receive an email with a security code, please contact your licensure board to determine if you need to apply as a new applicant.

When I use public search, I am having trouble finding the license I am searching for?

To make sure your search is successful, enter the least amount of data possible to make sure you get a match.  The more information you enter, the greater the chance that one of the fields won’t be an exact match and you won’t get the results you expect.
To use the public search or license look-up, try one of the following:
  • For an individual, enter the last name and first initial of the first name of the person you are searching for and select the board and click ‘Search’
      OR
  • Enter the full license number only (including any prefix, suffix or punctuation) and click ‘Search’
Be sure to eliminate any spaces before or after the information you input.  To print a copy,
  1. Click on the license number
  2. Click ‘View More Info’
  3. Click ‘Printer Friendly Version”
  4. Choose ‘Print’

Which web browsers are supported by eLicense Ohio?

  • Google Chrome (recommended)
  • Mozilla Firefox

Why can’t I renew my license?

License holders are only able to renew during the open renewal period, as specified by the rules of the board. For more information, please visit the board website or contact the board directly.

I do not feel comfortable processing an application online. Where can I go to download a paper form?

Most of the boards no longer accept paper applications. Please refer to the board website or contact your licensure board to see if a paper application is an option for you.

Why as a user in eLicense Ohio, are my licenses are not displaying on my Dashboard?

When you registered in eLicense Ohio for the first time you should have selected the “I HAVE A LICENSE” path. This registration path would have navigated you through the process of linking to your existing license.

You will need to contact your licensing Board, Agency, or Commission to link/merge your current eLicense Ohio account to your pre-existing/converted license/certificate.

What security measures are in place to reassure licensees/applicants that the eLicense Ohio site is secure enough to enter their confidential personal information?

State guidelines are followed to appropriately protect all information systems.

The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) requires all its employees and contractors to respect privacy and protect personally identifiable information regardless of the form and system in which it is kept. The DAS Policy on Protecting Privacy may be found here.

Ohio Revised Code 1347.15 requires DAS to adopt rules regulating access to the confidential personal information the agency keeps, whether electronically or on paper. DAS rules pertaining to confidential personal information may be found in
rules 123-4-01 through 123-4-05 of the Ohio Administrative Code.

I saved my application to work on at a future date. When I came back to continue working on the application, I was asked to validate each section that I had already completed. Why do I have to re-validate previously entered information?

The system was designed to make sure the application contains the most current information. To make sure this happens, the applicant is asked to validate the previously entered information even if there have been no changes.

After I submitted my application I realized I forgot to add important information. Where in the system can I add additional information to a previously submitted application?

Once the application is submitted, you can no longer add or change information.  However, you may submit additional documentation by clicking the ‘Options’ button on the application tile and select ‘Submit Additional Documentation’.  Please contact your licensure board to provide or revise other information.

When I am attempting to register on the eLicense Ohio portal, I receive an error message stating: Error(s) in Existing License Registration: It looks like you are already registered. Why is this?

An account already exists in the eLicense system for a user with the same SSN. If you are having trouble registering, please contact the Customer Service Center at (855) 405-5514, Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm.

How do I change my mailing address or public address?

You may change the mailing or physical address for your license by clicking on the 'Options' button on your license tile and selecting the 'Change Address' option. If you do not see this option, you may not be able to change your address online. Please contact the board for assistance.

Why can’t I change my name on my individual profile?

Name changes on profiles require the submission of a service request, which can be found on your license tile after clicking ‘Options'.  One (1) of the following forms of documentation must be uploaded along with the service request:
  • Valid Driver’s License or State Identification Card with the new name (note: the copy of the driver’s license must clearly show the picture and name of the licensee);
  • Marriage certificate;
  • Divorce or dissolution decree indicating the current name of the licensee/applicant;
  • Probate or other court order approving a legal name change;
  • U.S. Immigration and Citizenship Services issued Green Card (note: the copy of the Green Card must clearly show the picture and name of the licensee).
If you cannot find this option, your board may not allow online name changes.
